Steuben County, located in New York’s Southern Tier, is a county steeped in history, beauty, and industrial innovation. The county is named for Baron von Steuben, a Prussian general who fought on the American side in the American Revolutionary War but is arguably best known today as home to Corning, Inc. (formerly Corning Glass Works) and the related Corning Museum of Glass. In addition to this and many other museums, tourists flock to the county to enjoy outdoor activities including boating and swimming on Keuka Lake and enjoying well-known Finger Lake wineries.
By area, Steuben County is one of New York’s largest counties, covering about 1,400 square miles. Its population of just under 100,000 people is primarily located in Corning, Hornell, and the County Seat, Bath. The County is a leader in technology and science, boasting strong manufacturing, renewable energy, and agricultural sectors. Over half of the sales from Steuben County’s 1,300 farms are attributed to milk production, which supports several well-known cheese and food production businesses, including BelGioioso Cheese, Golden Age Cheese, and HP Hood. The County is now focusing its economic development efforts on attracting next-generation technologies, including cleantech manufacturing and supply chain opportunities as well as clean energy production, as a natural extension of the region’s success in industrial innovation.
MEGA is proud to serve Steuben County and to be a part of the important role it plays in the cultural and economic fabric of New York’s southern tier.
