OUR MISSION

The Municipal Electricity and Gas Alliance (MEGA) uses the collective buying power of member counties, local governments, and school districts to secure competitively-priced electricity, natural gas, and renewable power in the state of New York.

Established by two counties in 1998, MEGA’s primary objective is to help local governments and schools minimize the cost of energy through competitive procurements and direct access to energy market expertise.

The Municipal Electric and Gas Alliance (MEGA) is an aggregator of electricity, natural gas and renewable power supply needs of our members. MEGA’s primary objective is to achieve the most competitive prices for electricity and natural gas for its members in order to minimize the cost of energy.

Formally established in 2001, but initiated in 1998, MEGA is a Local Development Corporation that serves local governments and affiliated entities by group purchasing of electricity, natural gas and other energy products and services. It presently serves more than 250 municipalities, including 27 counties and many school districts.
